Project Development

Large Capital Projects normally are developed in several development phases: 

  1. Project Initiation phase
  2. Conceptual Design & Engineering
  3. Basic Engineering phase
  4. Project Execution/ Realisation phase
  5. Hand Over / Start Up phase

Each project phase will have their own Project Delivarables, developed at its defined and required Level of Detail while decisions will be made on Cost Estimation (RoM), Timing, Scheduling and Business Case(s).

A structured approach is required to develop such phases efficiently, with the right project deliverables and evaluation methods to be Quality Compliant, to save time, man hours and to optimize the development costs involved.

In the Project Development phase all multi-discipline Engineering input will be combined to come to the best Project Execution phase.

Construction

An efficient Project Delivery up to  Mechanical Completion and Handover is required. 

Construction normally is done on a process unit by unit basis, floor area's, and based upon a well defined Utility Systems Approach.

Design Coordination and Design Management, combined with Digitization are key to success!

For Life Science Projects in particular the Mechanical Completion is done on a system by system approach, including a well prepared and documented Commissioning Qualification Verification (CQV) phase to meet with all  Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards and requirements, and to have Clean Utilities available in time.
